AHL Business Info
In March 1996 Eastleigh Housing Association (EHA) backed by Eastleigh Borough Council and its tenants purchased the Council's stock of 4352 homes.
For the first few years of our life we concentrated on dealing with the backlog of repairs and maintenance and we did this working very closely with our tenants. Gradually as we evolved we were able to develop new services that our tenants wanted to see including our direct labour organisation (Wessex Property Services) and our care provider (Fernhill Care Ltd.) which provides domiciliary, extra-care and dementia care.
Over the years we have gradually built up our new-build programme of general needs and specialist accommodation and we have been able to provide accommodation for many groups previously excluded from social housing, including people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and substance and alcohol problems. We have provided the majority of this accommodation via a sister organisation (First Atlantic Housing Group) and First Atlantic has been particularly keen to develop services for young people, particularly young people coming out of care.
In March 1999 the Atlantic Housing Group (AHG) was formed to accommodate the new services that we were providing and in July 2005 EHA changed its name to Atlantic Housing Ltd. as part of the formation of the First Wessex Housing Group.
